Affine Springer fibers were introduced by Kazhdan-Lusztig as a generalization of Springer fibers to loop groups. Later they were found to have applications in harmonic analysis in reductive groups over equal-characteristic local fields, as a geometrization of orbital integrals. In this talk we give an introduction to the geometry of affine Springer fibers and their analogue for p-adic local fields.
This is a periodic series seminar organized by members and postdoctors of Morningside Center of Mathematics held on each Thursday at MCM110. More info can be found on the website.
