Abstract: We study investigates the existence and properties of gap solitons in a PT-symmetric defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation under the influence of a periodic potential. The PT symmetric equation introduces a complex interplay between nonlinearity and the periodic potential, leading to intriguing phenomena such as the formation of localized solutions within spectral bandgaps. We employ numerical methods and variational approximations to explore the parameter regimes where these solitons exist, their stability characteristics, and their potential applications in nonlinear optics and condensed matter physics. The results highlight the intricate balance between nonlinearity, and periodic potentials in the formation and dynamics of gap solitons, offering insights into their controllability and robustness in various physical systems.
