Title: The canonical map of a foliated surface of general type

Abstract: In this talk, we will report our study on the canonical map of a foliated surface of general type, analogous to Beauville's work on the canonical map of an algebraic surface of general type. Several boundedness results are proved as well as some interesting examples are constructed. As an application, we establish three Noether type inequalities for foliated surfaces depending on the Kodaira dimension of the surface.
