Abstract: The aims of these talks are to review the compactification theory of Shimura varieties, and to explain the construction of compactifications for integral models of Shimura varieties of abelian type. Firstly, we will review some previous works in this subject. We will start with Pink's compactification theory for canonical models of Shimura varieties, and then collect some facts in the works of Faltings-Chai, Lan and Madapusi. Next, we construct good toroidal compactifications for integral models of Shimura varieties of abelian type. This is based on the upcoming (revision of) PhD thesis of the speaker.
