Abstract: Quantum information theory has been extensively studied for finite dimensional quantum systems. In this talk, we will show how to extend fundamental concepts and ideas to infinite dimensional quantum systems with finite-index conserved quantities. It essentially requires a mathematically rigorous renormalization process to formulate infinity over infinity. We establish such a renomalization using subfactor theory and quantum Fourier analysis. In particular, we propose an infinite dimensional theory of Approximate Quantum Error Corrections (AQEC), including a generalized Knill-Laflamme condition. This approach demonstrates a bridge between the study of quantum information for qubits and that for quantum field theory and quantum gravity.
